After downloading version 96.0 for Windows 64 bit I recieved the following error trying to install it…
Output folder: C:\Program Files\MKVToolNix
Can’t write: C:\Program Files\MKVToolNix\mkvextract.exe
I tried removing the read only tag from the folder in Program Files and it still gave the same error.
Run the installer with admin privileges, not just with user privileges.
I am also getting the same problem as Donkey above on Windows 11 25h2 64 bit the installer. But if you download the Zip file version this seems to work. Maybe someone can look into this on the new version of windows. Thanks!
ps. I am running with admin privileges, so feel this is not the problem.
Right-click on the installer exe, select “Run as administrator”. That’s what I mean with “run with admin privileges”.
