Using mkvpropedit to read track names into variable?

I have many MKV files with audio commentary tracks in addition to the main audio, many of which have descriptive names. Is it possible for mkvpropedit to read the name of a given audio track and assign it to a batch file variable?

Welcome!

mkvpropedit is not the right tool for the job. Use mkvmerge’s JSON identification mode instead. Maybe postprocess its output with jq if you need one specific attribute.

That put me on the right “track” – thanks!
