I’m not sure if this is a bug, but I didn’t see anything in forum about it.
I have a season of a TV show that is held within a single large MKV file with chapter markers at the start of each episode. When I try to split the file based on the markers, it appears to work correctly except the first file it creates is 12KB and looks to be a single frame (duration is 0.0322 seconds). After generating the first 12KB file, the tool continues to split the rest of the file normally, except the picture appears slightly compressed in width. If I have the tool split based on, say, 6 chapter markers, it will generate the 12KB file plus 6 files. Metadata shows both the source and split files are in a 4:3 aspect ratio with the same resolution, but the split files are clearly compressed compared to the non-split.
This doesn’t seem to happen to every large MKV file that I split, but I can’t tell what the difference is between the ones that it does happen and the ones that it doesn’t. The first season of the show splits fine, but all the subsequent ones (which are on separate disks) have this bug. I’m also not for sure if the extra 12KB file is related, but since it shows up whenever the split files appear compressed, I’m guessing it is.
Anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions?
