[SOLVED] Assertion 'GST_IS_ELEMENT (element_2)' failed

I am using xfce4 on Debian 12.
Currenty running mkvtoolnix-gui will give me this error

(mkvtoolnix-gui:37949): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: 16:19:33.117: gst_element_link_many: assertion 'GST_IS_ELEMENT (element_2)' failed
Segmentation fault

I have tried every version of mkvtoolnix from 80.0-88.0 with no luck.

mkvtoolnix working fine. only the GUI version giving this error and refuse to run.

xfce4: 4.18
OS: Debian 12
mkvtoolnix: 80.0-0~debian12bunkus01 (currently installed)
gstreamer1.0-gl: 1.22.0-3+deb12u3

I’m sorry, but I cannot help you with that. MKVToolNix does not use gstreamer directly. It only uses Qt’s multimedia functions. If there’s incorrect usage of gstreamer, this is down to Qt.

So this is Qt problem? Is it related to xfce4 that I am using?

Problem solved. Had to install gstreamer1.0-plugins-good.
