I am trying to merge 4 files into a single file. These 4 files are respectively, each quarter of an American football game. When the file is done, the new file is appropriately sized, but the run time when I launch the file displays as 1hr2min. The first quarter alone is 55 minutes. All of the individual quarter files play in VLC without a problem. Any ideas on what may be going on here?

When you “add” source files, their content will be laid out in parallel, not in sequence. What you need to do is “add” the first one & “append” the others.
