Is there any thing I can do or is just the way its design. I wen through the preference but can’t seem to find a fix for it. I use an older version, version 26 and never had this problem
Welcome!
I cannot reproduce this. Please make sure by using tools such as MediaInfo that your source file actually has its “title” attribute set to the full “Glass (2017)”, not just “Glass”.
Note further that the GUI doesn’t derive the destination file’s title field from the source file name.
Thanks for the info. Did the previous version use the source file name? The title is set to the movie name without the year but the source file is set to movie name and year.
No version of MKVToolNix GUI has ever used the file name as the title automatically. There’s a keyboard shortcut to copy the first source file’s name to the title, but that’s always invoked manually, not automatically.
The GUI can set the title field from source files if the source files contain a title attribute at the container level (this is enabled by default & what you’re currently observing). There’s also an automatism to set the destination file name based on the title. But nothing else.
I got it to work. I uncheck use title base if title is set option and it now include the year like I wanted. Thanks!
