Hello, I’m splitting a tv show file with 50+ episodes in it, in order to watch it using plex. I want the files to be named according to the naming convention of plex (tvshowname Sxx Exx) so it will recognise it without effort and I can’t find how to do it in the software (not understanding it atleast).
Not sure what you expect here. You can just rename your files via Windows Explorer & similar tools?
There’s also a “file title” property (also called “segment title” or sometimes “movie title”) in Matroska. You can change that either with a full remux (more compatible, but slower as it creates a whole new file); set it in the “Output” tab of multiplexer settings.
Or you directly edit existing files with the GUI’s header editor or mkvpropedit on the command line & change the title property there. Note that some applications don’t fully support Matroska & might have issues with how these methods modify existing files. If this happens, you’ll have to do a remux anyway in order to fix it. See this FAQ entry for details.
