Merge and keep/add chapter markers

HI there!

I have successfully merged 30+ short MKVs into a single large MKV. Perfect. Now…is there a way to have each merged piece be a chapter? (Yup, I know I’ll have to start from scratch. NP!) I tried adding all the files at once (LOL, not a good idea!) and appending all to the “prime” MKV. That works, but I don’t get chapters.

I checked the documentation, but that’s very CLI-based and has lots of tech info, but no real how-to’s. Also searched here, got some hits there were close, but not really addressing my situation. I did see something about creating a Chapter File, but that can’t be right (can it?).

Thanks in advance for pointing me to that one checkbox I was too dumb to find.

Welcome!

In the GUI you can use the “generate chapters on appending” functionality. It’s on the “output” tab. On the CLI it’s called --generate-chapters when-appending.
