Hi, I’ve been using mkvtoolkit to add french subtitles to films/series for ages, but suddenly I can’t do it anymore. I tried with different videos, different srt sources, converting srt to sub, no luck always the same error:
“unsupported container format”?
Any tip about how to solve this much appreciated, thanks

The “MicroDVD” subtitle format is known to MKVToolNix, but it isn’t supported. “Known” means that MKVToolNix can recognize its type & show you this nice error message, but it cannot process its content. Even though the file extension says .srt, it isn’t actually an SRT file, it’s a different format (MicroDVD).
You’ll have to use other programs such as SubtitleEdit to convert it to a format MKVToolNix supports, e.g. SRT or SSA/ASS.
Hi, thanks for jumping on this. I did try to open the file and re-save as SUB or SRT using subtitle workshop, but the resulting file is still not accepted…Will try SSA/AAS now, thanks
