99% of the time I use the Free-form input option, as that is quicker than the Language list.
It would be nice if one could right-click a Subtitle track and have an option to make it the Default track flag.

You can change the default method in the preferences.
No, sorry. It’s already incredibly easy to change via the properties list; it’s even the same amount of clicks.

Hmm, I checked preferences and can’t see the option to have the Free-form input as the default, instead of Individual selected components.
GUI → Languages → Default IETF BCP 47 language editing mode
