I would like to know if there is a way to determine an audio delay value of a previous multiplex job. I had painstakingly determined this for properly syncing an audio track, but I would like to replace this with one of better quality. I was hoping there might be a way to find out what the delay was for the original job through the tool. If I add the mkv from the original job to a new one the properties do not show any audio delay.
Welcome!
There’s an FAQ entry that talks about this topic. Please give it a read; it’s not that long. If you have further questions afterwards, go ahead & ask them.
That being said: keep in mind that there’s absolutely no guarantee that your new audio track even requires the same audio delay as your previous one, or any delay at all for that matter. A specific delay is not inherent to a movie — it’s simply a combination of how a source was recorded, how it was later cut & mastered, how it was encoded, which codec was used, what the settings were etc. etc. There are so many variables.
