I just want to make sure about one specific point.
When I rip a movie, I need to keep the English and French audio tracks and subtitles, of the movie only!
I keep no comments, interviews or special versions for persons with disabilities.
But very often, it’s not simple. There are multiple English and/or French audio tracks and subtitles. And it’s not always easy to identify which one is which.
Here is an example with the subtitles…
So most of the time, I have to rip the disk 2 times: a first time with all the English and/or French audio tracks and subtitles to allow me identify what is what (including with software like Subtitle Edit) and then… rip the final version where I remove the English and/or French audio tracks and subtitles I don’t want to keep.
BUT… ripping a BD 2 times is quite long 1h1/2 to 2h.
So I would like to rip the first time with all the English and/or French audio tracks and subtitles, Identify what I want to keep and then remove the ones I don’t want to keep with MKVToolNix, as multiplexing usually takes 10mn and not 45mn to 1h for a full rip.
So… question: is there any consequence, drawback, of re-multiplexing the MKV file after removing audio track or subtitles, vs doing a new rip?
Is this re-multiplexing altering the quality of the video or the sound of the content of the MKV file?
Or is it indeed the best way to do, to use MKVToolNix to remove an audio track from an MKV file, with no consequence on the rest of the content of the MKV file?
