Hello. I’m relatively new to using MKVToolNix. One thing I can’t figure out is if I use Chapter Editor to remove a chapter (color bars and tone) from a video - how do I export the new version? There is no Export or Start Multiplexing option as there is in, for example, Multiplexer. Is there no way to create a new version of the file without the chapter?
You can either save the modified chapters back to an existing Matroska file, or to a new XML file. In the latter case you can then use that new XML file as chapter information in the multiplexer tool to create a new Matroska file.
Both cases are covered by the various “Save…” options in the “Chapter editor” menu that’s visible while using the chapter editor tool.
It didn’t quite work. I tried Save - the bars/tone remain in the file (though the update date of the file changes.) I exported XML and then used it to Multiplex a new file - but the bars/tone remain in the new copy. Even though in the Chapters, they don’t show up. In the original file, the bars/tone are Chapter 00. The new file doesn’t show Chapter 00, but bars/tone are still there. I’m doing something wrong, i’m sure, but I can’t figure out what that is.
