Audio offset not applying?

First post! I’ve used mkvtoolnix in combination with programs like SubtitleEdit to identify the frame/audio positioning for remuxing many times successfully but for some reason it isn’t working now. It’s been a while since I did it this way and I’m curious if it’s relative to the most recent update maybe? I’m on v103, on Windows 10 if that matters.

I have two videos, one with better video and one with better audio. The videos I’m using are identical in framerate, as the subtitles line up correctly on both with the right offset applied, but I’m trying to move the audio from one onto the video of another and the donor audio is 40ms behind, so I applied 40 (and tried with 040 as well) to the delay and the resulting video does not change at all, it still has the same relative position as its original video. My first thought is that maybe a 40ms delay is too small perhaps? I can’t certify it but I’m certain I’ve done smaller changes effectively in the past, but nothing I do changes it this time. I’ve reinstalled MKVToolNix too, no dice. Any feedback is appreciated, I’ll provide whatever info I can

Maybe your donor video already has a delay for the audio track? If you extract the audio in a first step, you may have to apply a sync that takes the original sync (delay) from your donor video into account in the (second) remuxing step.

Well there it is, don’t I feel like a doof. I know that’s a thing obviously but I never thought to look at the offset before starting. MediaInfo confirmed that the source with the better video had a -43ms delay on the audio. Can’t believe I’ve never thought to look at that from the start. Thanks so much!
