Are the original files left intact?

Hello.
Please tell me if I understand correctly that when I delete/add audio or video tracks, the MKVToonix program creates a copy of the file with a new set of tracks? Do the original files remain intact?
Thank you.

Welcome!

You are indeed correct. Using the multiplexer, you cannot overwrite your existing files. It’ll always create a new one for you.

For completeness’s sake: there is a setting in the preferences to automatically delete the source files if the multiplexing succeeds. However, as this is a dangerous/destructive operation, this option is turned off by default. It’s meant for experienced users who know what they’re doing. Don’t worry about it if you’re new to the program.

Thanks for the quick and detailed answer!

Please, one more small question, so as not to create a new topic.

Is it possible to create a file title template (“Output” => “File title”)? To make it available, for example, from a drop-down menu similar to templates for audio/video track names.

Not at the moment, no. I don’t consider movie titles to be that repeatable that it’d be worth the time & effort to implement such a feature.

I understand. Thank you again! Your program is great!

You’re quite welcome, and thanks for the praise!
