Again,,, the new file is MUCH MUCH smaller

I just used MKCToolNix and I find the result of the remux very strange. I have had this before but can’t seem to find out why this happens.

I have the original file which is 57,3 Gig. I used MTN to remove 4 audiostreams and 4 subtitles. I know these 4 audiostreams aren’t that big. The result is a file of 25,1 Gig, so even less than half the size of the original. How is this possible???

This is the command line used:

“C:\Program Files\MKVToolNix\mkvmerge.exe” --ui-language en --priority lower --output ^“F:_Sab en Torrent\Def\Harry.Potter.and.the.Deathly.Hallows.Part.1 ^(1^).mkv^” --audio-tracks 5 --no-subtitles --language 0:en --track-name ^“0:Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 ^) " --display-dimensions 0:3840x2160 --language 5:en --track-name 5:Original ^”^(^" ^“F:_Sab en Torrent\Def\Harry.Potter.and.the.Deathly.Hallows.Part.1.mkv^” ^“^)^” --language 0:nl ^“^(^” ^“F:_Sab en Torrent\Def\Harry.Potter.and.the.Deathly.Hallows.Part.1.srt^” ^“^)^” --title ^“^” --track-order 0:0,0:5,1:0

Are you sure the audio files aren’t big? mkvtoolsnix is not an encoding software, it is solely for muxing/remuxing into the mkv container, hence the files are not altered at all. Please use mediainfo to check the size of your audio streams.

Sorry to necropost, but just in case this helps someone: the default action is to use zlib on subtitles. It can create unexpectedly smaller output.
